I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.

It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.

After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.

I would be grateful if someone could please help.

Quality control on a system as complex as Windows, that is used on so many different platforms, is a Sisyphean task. Even designing something as simple as a doorstop that would work with every door in existence would make me despair. As a long-time software developer, I sympathize with Microsoft.

That, however, is absolutely no excuse for not giving users the ability to put off installing an update until said user is satisfied that others have had success. I don't usually mind living on the bleeding edge, and I take precautions if I know I'm about to install an update. The current system of force-feeding us updates is stupid and short-sighted.

I couldn't agree more. I was an IBM  software engineer (now retired). I learned years ago that as sure as night follows day, software fixes break software systems. Different corporation I know, but same scenario.  MICROSOFT please stop force feeding untested software on your customer. BTW "metered connection" keeps them out and Linux has got pretty good these days.

    Updated from my Samsung tablet.

Me computer had been doing the same thing yours is doing for months. I tried everything. In the end I found that several critical files that are needed by the Os were corrupted. I tried to fix them to no avail. I figured I could live with it until the next major update. I thought I could until a program that I use on a daily basis stopped working for no reason. I attempted to fix it and in the end the only thing that  did fix it was.. I regret to say.. was a fresh install of Windows.
