I am unable to install The Windows 10 Feature update to OS version 1803(from version 1709) on my PC.

It is giving 0xc1900101 error. I have all the latest drivers on my PC. The current OS build of my PC is 16299.371.

After each failure, the update gets downloaded again and it has failed 5 times.

I would be grateful if someone could please help.

Sorry Microsoft you have blown it. This is not the first time I have had issues with Windows 10.  I believe that with Windows 10  Microsoft decided , quiet arrogantly, that they no longer need to involve the owner of the PC in any updates.  Result is that when they get it wrong the user is left trying to fix corrupted files and worse.

As an IBM Retiree I did not expect to have to go under the covers on a regular basis to keep my operating system going.

I see that 1803 is a feature update. Sorry Microsoft I dont want your features!

For interest here are some steps I took. None of which fixed the problem

    Ran Wurest

Right clicked on BAT file then run as admistrator -failed

    Reran Update

Still failed the Feature update ( others were OK)

    Ran Scannow

    Search box type cmd

Right click on the command prompt and run as administrator

    Type the following and enter

    SCF/SCANNOW

Ran but found errors it couldn't fix

    Ran chkdsk as follows

Right Clicked on C drive in normal way

    Select Properties

    Tools tab

    Press Check button

It fixed some errors in that area, but didn't fix the problem.

Bottom line.  My windows 10 Machine is going in the cupboard and I am now running my Windows 7 machine as live.

Next Action: 1 None on the Windows 10 machine

2 Monitor this forum  to see if Microsoft acknowledge the issue.

I found a solution that worked for me.

First go to Microsoft Windows 10 Media Creation Tool and create the Windows 10 1803 version on a default formatted empty USB drive.

Then open the USB Drive with File Explorer and run Setup.exe. Select the option to install new version of windows. Then you can select to keep your applications and files or not.

I had the same issue so I would suggest you to re-install the windows 10. Updating using Windows 10 Assistant won't help in this case.
