Having Bluetooth Stuttering Issues on Windows 10

As of recent, when connecting any pair of bluetooth headphones or devices, I would get stuttering problems where when using bluetooth headphones, the audio would frequently cut in and out randomly, and it would frequently disconnect, even when it was fully charged. And yes, I've tried to fix the issue by disabling audio enhancements, but it hasn't helped at all. Additionally, I've had problems with other bluetooth devices where they would also frequently disconnect. Is there a fix to these problems?

    So mine got 100% better when I turned off my Bluetooth mouse.  It's been fine for an hour with a wired mouse.  Sofa king convenient :(

    I am not sure if this problem has to do with the Laptop or Windows version.

    I had some time to also test the headset on my Surface Pro 6 (Winver 2004) and on that computer playback works with no problem.

    But on my Fujitsu Lifebook U, (Winver 1803) the playback studders all the time.

    Unfortunately I can't update Windows on the Fujitsu laptop since it's a work computer :-(

    You could be correct - I'm not sure if it's Windows 10 or the device.  But you would think an updated Microsoft product (Surface Pro) that is supposed to be the latest and greatest thing, won't play a blue tooth device without major stuttering.  Others on this thread and others I have spoken to have the exact same issue.  Works great with my Android phone but not on my Pro...

    Frustrating.

    Based on another commenter's post, I went and purchased an Insignia USB Bluetooth Adapter Dongle and plugged it into one of my USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports, and almost all pops, stutters and garbles are completely gone... in 5 minutes of listening I've had 1 or 2 split-second drop outs, which I'm willing to live with if it means I dont' have to be tethered to my PC via a stupid cable...

    Note: In order to install the dongle as the sole Bluetooth adapter, you have to disable (not un-install) the embedded / on-board version via the Device Manager...

    Hope this helps someone else in my same position...

    01/19/2020:  So I bought recently a brand new CyberPowerPC - Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 580

    • 2TB Hard Drive + 240GB SSD - White

     .. then connected my Bluetooth Harman/Kardon headphones but the audio is so bad, it is stuttering all the time. I have tried everything listed in this thread:

     * running the bluetooth troubleshooter

     * disabling Hands-Free Telephony & Remote Control under Services

     * uninstalling and re-installing the bluetooth driver

     * updating the bluetooth driver

     * disabling audio enhancements, etc etc ...

    but all the above did not help. The audio kept stuttering on my Harman/Kardon bluetooth headphones. Then just to make sure that there's nothing wrong with my Harman/Kardon headphones so I tried my other bluetooth headphone (Bandz Headset) and still the same, constant stuttering.

    Then I read about this post about the Insignia USB Bluetooth Adapter Dongle (thank you so much jrbarker33) and so I bought the Insignia USB Bluetooth Adapter Dongle at Best Buy and plug it in but I have to disable that other on-board bluetooth thingy - my PC says: Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) so it's been disabled and now my bluetooth Harman/Kardon headphones is working perfectly, no more stuttering, no more choppy sounds. Thank you so much jrbarker33.

    I have had this problem for about a month now, I'm using the Bose QC35's and the music barely plays because it studders so badly! I am really getting tired of this issue and Microsoft not being able to fix it. I guess this is why everyone that i know uses a Mac and not Windows and their trash operating platform.

     Have you tried any of the fixes here? If not, open Device Manager and note the name of your Bluetooth adapter (sometimes it will be shared with your WiFi adapter under 'Network Adapters'). Go to the website for the manufacturer of your adapter and ensure you have the latest driver. If not, download and install the latest driver for the BT adapter and check if issue is fixed.

    Windows Update is FAR from perfect at ensuring the most appropriate and updated driver is installed. For example, when I had this issue, I checked each and every driver via Windows Update for any peripheral device related to sound or wireless connectivity. None of them even updated. I went to the manufacturer website for my adapter however, and boom, an updated driver was available that completely fixed the stuttering issue with my headphones and Windows 10.

    KirAmp  Thank you so much. I dug out a USB extension cable, put the Bluetooth dongle on the end and led it away from the computer.

    The music throws out to a stereo in an adjoining room and the stuttering has stopped!  For months this has been upsetting and I thought I had tried everything.
