It's like Microsoft is actively working with "law enforcement" to circumvent your security.
The fact that you have to edit a group policy to change this is simple trash design by Microsoft. This is what market dominance looks like. Trash.

Windows 10 is so stupid I don't want a pin that can be forgotten intern making my process useless this is so dumb forcing me to do a pin f*** you I don't want your product
My gripe with this "Feature" is that I do not want a pin. I know how to edit my account and remove the pin and I do this.. weekly or so. The problem is that anyone can walk up to my keyboard and start typing my password incorrectly and prompt for my account to setup a pin the next time I login. Once they click that button, the next time I'm logging in I have to create a pin, there is no way around it. I then create my pin, go into my settings, and remove it. You would think there would be a registry key that you could edit..
This is not a viable solution, this removes the necessity to enter ANY password at all to use my PC.
I want to use JUST my password, not a PIN, not a fingerprint, nothing else. Just my password. And it keeps nagging me to create a pin every single time I log in to my computer. Absurd.
I do not want to change my microsoft password to another intrusive method i dont want ANOTHER PASSWORD
I also do not wish to use a PIN.
A PIN is LESS secure than a local password!
This is because a PIN leaks information about it's length, and a password does not.
I would be fine with a local password, if it was forced.
I was just prompted with a blue screen on black that gave me a choice of set up a pin now, or to be reminded a few days later. It also tried to get me to buy a subscription to office 365, which at least i was able to refuse.
Please stop with this nonsense about it being more secure than a password, when it is less.
