The problem is every single Windows update somehow resets these options. I have literally followed those instructions MULTIPLE times and in a few months, I guarantee my laptop is going to go through the Pin setup again with no ability to bypass. It even states 'this device REQUIRES a Pin', which is ridiculously stupid when I've disabled Pin login in group policy. It will force me to create a Pin despite the gpedit.
This is one heck of an annoying bug.
Scanning through replies, it seems that people fall into one of 2 camps:
- want to login w/ password, do not use Pin
- do not want any security... no PW, no Pin. Many of us are using multiple devices networked
Some of the solutions here will be helpful for those in the first camp.
For us in the 2nd group, none of these options help.
I need to have my pc's on all the time. If they crash or lose power, they auto-reboot. I need them auto-login at that point.
I've set all that up easily, no problem...
...except for the incessant Pin garbage, that on occasion prevents one of my devices from logging in.
The fact that it affects only 1 of my devices somewhat points to some kind of update error or hiccup where it keeps going back to Pin setup.
Still stupid no matter what. But I fear this thread being closed when some of us want a solution.
