This problem happens with all windows when maximized.
When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.
Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.
Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!
The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.
My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.
The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.
I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:
* Open Task Manager
* Goto Tab Details
* select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"
dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.
Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.
Perhaps if we could get someone to move this thread over to the Office support forums too it may be fixed quicker, as we have all established this behaviour occurs because of protected view in Office. How to we tag a forum admin in?
That's a good suggestion, because as earlier said, I don't have ANYMORE SINCE 6 MONTHS the issue since I unchecked from Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook the Protected View feature.
So he's the Guilty without doubt !
maybe it is enough to uncheck only one or two, but I don't have the time to try all the combinations.
Disclaimer: I trust my antivirus and I guess to be a "smart" user to avoid the dangerous files. Unchecking Protected View could lead to risky situation.
When this bug starts it affects all programs, not only Office.
Or are you saying Office causes a system wide bug?
Yes, it affects various programs, but in my case it is triggered only by opening protected Word documents. Since I disabled protected mode for Word documents on my network, it now only happens when I open a Word document received from the outside by e-mail, since those still open in protected mode. I did not have to disable protected view for other Office programs. This may not be the same for everybody, but this has been my experience.
