Windows 10, multi Monitor, maximized window blank/empty space on top of screen

This problem happens with all windows when maximized.

When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

Here is the link from reddit and this is the exact issue i am having.

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

Any help please

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.

Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.

Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!

The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.

My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.

The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.

I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:

 * Open Task Manager

 * Goto Tab Details

 * select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"

dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.

Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.

    it worked a couple of times.

    Then all of a sudden resetting the graphics driver still worked, but the bar was still on my screen.

    killing the process of dwm did help but it's a workaround not all co-workers can use.

    One "solution" I have not seen mentioned in a long time is to manually size your windows.  When I was having this problem regularly, I found that it only affected maximized windows.  If I manually stretched my windows to fill the screen, they were not affected.  It was still a bit of a nuisance, since non-maximized windows often didn't retain their sizes when I rebooted, so I had to resize them periodically, but it reduced my problems significantly.

    Also, something to consider when weighing the risk of disabling protected view - you may not have to disable it in every program.  I only had to disable it in Word to eliminate the problem almost entirely.  None of the other MS programs triggered the problem.  Now, it only happens when I open Word documents received via e-mail, because they still open in protected view.  It's still a risk and not an actual solution, but it's a managed risk and reduced the occurrence of the problem from numerous times per day to once every few months.

    At least Microsoft has apparently now acknowledged that this is a problem they need to look at and try to solve.  From what I saw, for several years before last year they just kept saying it was a 3rd party problem and there was nothing they could do about it.

    We have disabled protected view in the test group in Microsoft Word only which fixes the problem. This is low risk as Protected view and Advanced threat protection are already in place on emails. So this negates the need to have it running on Word, as the documents they deal with on a daily basis are all internal and are trusted locations anyway so it wouldn't need to enforce protected mode.

    Has anyone got a Microsoft contact we can direct to this thread? It seems we have identified what is causing the problem, so would be good to get theme to take a look, or at least update everyone here on progress.
