This problem happens with all windows when maximized.

When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

Here is the link from reddit and this is the exact issue i am having.

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

Any help please

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.

Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.

Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!

The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.

My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.

The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.

I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:

 * Open Task Manager

 * Goto Tab Details

 * select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"

dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.

Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.

    Hi popy_jules,

    I could not agree more with your sentiment. For months I have been banging my head up against a brick wall trying to understand this problem. Blaming bad drivers, windows feature updates, customer apps, etc was driving me crazy. And not a peep from MS who I believe are aware of this issue. We almost lost a valuable client over this fiasco as we were seen as making excuses for the behavior and perceived as unwilling to fix the problem. The sooner it is acknowledged and addressed by MS the better.

    Hi David,  I'm super happy that you have got a respite in dealing with this issue,

    but rest assured, Disabling Protected view does not solve the problem, it will just stop it for a while, and then when it comes back,

    then you will find that Enabling Protected view will make the problem go away for a few months.

    I tried the Disabling of Protected View for 20+ users, and it worked for 1 to 6 months, and so did Enabling Protected View.

    I have a lot of users, with a lot of diff Win OS versions, and the problem appears in a lot of diff apps. It's not only Word and Excel that is affected, also Adobe, Chrome, Quicken, Screenconnect, Internet Explorer, Edge (old version) HP printer software, VLC, Notepad ++ just to name a few.

    Some of my users do not even have any Microsoft office products at all (Win10 PC's dedicated to field use/monitoring only)

    Having said that, I'm not aware of any of my users having had the problem in the last 4-6 months -Maybe they are not telling me :-(

    Question to everybody:  Have you had the problem on systemswith 3 or more monitors?  (I have not, but I only have 5 users in that category)

    I normally use 3 and sometimes 5 monitors

    I opened NVIDIA Control Panel

    In Display > Adjust desktop size and position

    I selected the secondary screen and after that,

    2.- Apply the following settings > Scaling > Full-Screen

    Apply and accept changes
