Windows 10, multi Monitor, maximized window blank/empty space on top of screen

This problem happens with all windows when maximized.

When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

Here is the link from reddit and this is the exact issue i am having.

https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/8imjva/windows\_10\_multi\_monitor\_maximized\_window/

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

Any help please

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.

Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.

Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!

The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.

My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.

The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.

I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:

 * Open Task Manager

 * Goto Tab Details

 * select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"

dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.

Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.

    True. But for most people looking for a solution to this problem where we do not yet know the root cause nor have a permanent solution, providing a quick way to get back to work is still a solution. The problem may reoccur but in my experience on a network with 27 Wihdows 10 desktops, the issue doesn't reoccur frequently at all. That's part of what makes it difficult to find the cause.

    We have around 165 users in a Citrix XenApp environment running Server 2016. We see this issue fairly regularly, most people now are using the workarounds:

    Chrome: F11 to full screen, then F11 to exit

    Adobe: CTRL + L to full screen, then CTRL +L back to normal

    Not ideal, but we are getting round it that way. The only joy we've had in terms of a permanent solution is turning off protected mode in Office. This is not ideal either however and as its hard to replicate, we are not 100% sure it has solved it for our test group.

    Shame that Microsoft still hasn't responded on this thread, and has marked workarounds as Answers which is poor

    Getting the same with Server 2019 with Citrix Virtual App and Desktop (latest XenApp).  Created a post on Citrix for it:

    https://discussions.citrix.com/topic/406055-server-2019-with-cvad-missing-title-bar-or-top-part-of-windows-on-multi-monitor/

    No response yet, and it probably is in the wrong forum as it seems to be a MS issue.  Still, maybe Citrix will put some pressure on MS, you never know.

    my workaround is resetting the graphics driver, clearing the buffer and thus solving the annoying problem

    just use the shortcut

    WINDOWS + CTRL + SHIFT + B
