Windows 10, multi Monitor, maximized window blank/empty space on top of screen

This problem happens with all windows when maximized.

When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

Here is the link from reddit and this is the exact issue i am having.

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

Any help please

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.

Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.

Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!

The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.

My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.

The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.

I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:

 * Open Task Manager

 * Goto Tab Details

 * select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"

dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.

Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.

    This is a temp fix, until Microsoft decide to fix the issue, it's all we have.

    You will need to reset the graphics.

    Easy way:  WIN + CTRL + SHIFT + B

    Other ways to the same thing:

    • unplug the other HDMI/DP monitor
    • Change the screen resolution or any other graphic settings

    Not a temp solution:

    In Win 10 you can also use the WIN + arrow to move a window around, In this case it helps because it takes the window out of Max, but does not solve the problem (even temp) with having windows in Max size on the primary monitor.

    Sorry, the help is very limited, because there is no solution to the problem, only workarounds.  To boil it all down, there are essentially three workarounds:  1) use one of the many methods of refreshing your display settings discussed in this blog every time the problem occurs;  2) manually stretch your windows to fit the monitor screen, rather than using the maximize button; or 3) turn off protected mode for Word documents.  It doesn't matter what patches, update versions, graphics cards or drivers, type of computer, monitor order, or other settings you use.  The common factors are using multi-monitor setup with one of the various versions of Windows and other Microsoft products in at least the last three years.  Otherwise, there's no pattern.  It affects all different drivers, update versions, computers, chipsets, etc, etc.  The only commonality I've found is the opening of Word documents in protected mode.  That seems to be the most common trigger for the problem, but is apparently not the trigger for everyone.

    is there still no fix for this? I have to users with the same setup having the same issue. They are running Dell Optiplex 7050 with dual monitors connected via Display port to the onboard integrated video card which is an Intel HD 630 graphics. I was reading on the intel forum that it might be a driver issue and that the older driver does not have an issue. Can anyone confirm this? This is the link to the other forum post on intel.
