This problem happens with all windows when maximized.

When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

Here is the link from reddit and this is the exact issue i am having.

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

Any help please

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.

Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.

Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!

The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.

My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.

The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.

I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:

 * Open Task Manager

 * Goto Tab Details

 * select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"

dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.

Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.

    So, I've been dealing with issue like the rest of you, and I have submitted what I know to Microsoft. I'll let them investigate from there. So, I'm sure you all have tried new graphics drivers, old graphics drivers, different monitors, different cables, the CTRL+ALT+WIN+B trick, and everything in between? So have I, and none of it sticks. The DWM.EXE thing is new to me, and also works... until it happens again.

    I'm guessing every person on here with the issue also has some version of Office on their machine. If you don't, I would be surprised.

    I have found that if I turn off Protected Mode in Office, the issue does not return. I've done this with a few machines in my office and it's been months so far without the issue returning.

    Open Word

    File >> Options >> Trust Center >> Trust Center Settings >> Protected View

    Uncheck all boxes

    Close out all Office apps and reopen

    I am not sure why this would do it, but I'm very sure it's the source of the problem.

    The problem is not limited to Office applications.

    My users see it on Adobe, Chrome, Spotify, IE, Edge, Sage simply acct, as well as office applications.

    It happens in multiple versions of Office.

    Not hardware dependant.

    Both Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016  (I haven't seen any other Window flavours listed)

    It has been happening for a couple of years at least (So multiple builds, updates)

    Some users will have it occur 1-2 times per week for 3-6 weeks, then the problem disappear for 3-6 months.

    Some users never have it.

    For the users where is happens on their PC, I have tried swapping PC with another user  who never have the problem, and after a little while the problem reappear for the same user on their new PC.

    This to me, this indicate its something that is triggered by the user behaviour. (not a user fault, but related to the way a given user works with their desktop)

    None of the fixes that have been listed, works permanently.

    It's strange, I know, but this setting has fixed that blank bar in every application. It's actually related to Office and Win10 and not the applications that are open. I used to get that bar in just about every application until I did this fix. It's Office causing issues with all said applications you have mentioned. I have not received a word about the issue coming back after this fix.
