This problem happens with all windows when maximized.

When the window is maximized there is a bar at the top of the screen through which i can see my desktop. Its like that range that the window can maximize has been shortened.

Here is the link from reddit and this is the exact issue i am having.

We did install all the latest and greatest patch that are available of today and nothing seems to work.

Any help please

In that Reddit thread, there is a suggestion that worked for me.

Right click desktop, go to Intel HD Graphics settings. Select Display and then choose the option Scale Full Screen. Make sure the option Override Application Settings has the checkbox marked.

Same annoying issue here on Windows 10 x64 1803 with all updates until now!

The issue appears on several apps (chrome, IE, eagle, ...) so it does'nt depends on the app.

My setup is: 2x HDMI/DVI 24" Monitors on an Radeon HD 5450. Internal Intel GPU is not used.

The issue just happend recently sind a few weeks.

I have found an workaround which helps at least for me:

 * Open Task Manager

 * Goto Tab Details

 * select dwm.exe and click "Kill Proccess"

dwm.exe will be closed and restarted automatically from windows and issue is gone.

Yeah i'll know, its a rather annoying workaround but the quickest for me until a real solution pops up.

    I think the underlying problem is different, because I align my monitors on my desktop as one of my first steps after install (and I would notice if the alignment is off during daily use).

    I went with changing the display scaling to "full-screen" as recommended in a previous post and I have not had the issue reoccur.

    I have multiple users (Different companies) with this problem.

    -Both Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 (RDP users)

    • It is a wide variety of hardware
    • Always dual monitor, and problem is on Main display only.
    • Only a problem when in "Full Screen".

    Solutions so far:

    1. Alter settings in Intel display setup  - Works if you have Intel graphics
    2. Kill dwm - not good if it happens in a RDP session on Server 2016 with multiple users

        NOTE  the problem does not happen for all users at the same time.

    1. Change screen alignment
    2. WIN+CTRL+SHIFT+B to restart graphics driver.
    3. . System Restart (or logoff/on RDP session)

    Workaround solution:

    WIN+ArrowKey - This takes Window out of Full Screen, but problem reappear if window manually is Full sized again.

    Common for all solutions suggested is that they force a reset in the Windows/Graphic-Driver interaction.

    Having been unable to resolve this with the standard Intel HD Graphics fix (scaling options unavailable on this device) I found a way to fix this temporarily.

    Simply go to display settings and switch from Extend to Duplicate and back to Extend. This resets the screen and fixes the grey section.
