Local Disk E

I updated to the Creators Spring 1803 update yesterday.  Everything seems to be fine although I have not done much since updating.  However I notice in windows explorer under Local disk C another entry for Local disk E?  It is for 449mb in size with 42.9mb free space left.  It opens to show nothing saying the folder is empty.  What is it ?  Anything to do with the update or can I just delete it?

Yes, it is 3 in your case. It can vary to a system by system.

Correct squence:

diskpart

list volume

select volume 3

remove letter="E"

This is one of the known issues I am seeing with the update as Recovery partition should be hidden and is accidentally assigned a drive letter.

Right-click Start>Command Prompt(admin)

Type in the following:

diskpart

list volume

select volume 3

Replace 3 with the number of the volume which is assigned a drive letter. (In hundreds of MBs)

remove letter="G"

Replace G with the Recovery drive letter.

Don't worry, removing a drive letter would not cause any harm to your device.

    Delete the E Disk !!

    That wouldn't delete it. It would only remove the letter & make it inaccessible to File Explorer. A letter does not belong on the Recovery Tools partition.

    I am sorrey. I do not mean delete the E Disk. I mean FORMAT the E-Disk.

    As you know; To format a hard drive means to delete any information on the drive and to set up a file system so your operating system can read data from, and write data to the drive.

    I did format my E-DISK long time ago, and since then i have had no problems at all.

    In order to Format the E-Disk do the following:

    Press WIN + E key to open File Explorer

    On the Meny at the lefthand side of the page you will find : "Local Disk (E:)"

    Right click it and you will see a new meny.

    Left click "Format" and go on

    Your E-Disk will be formated, and your problems with it will disappear.

    It is inadvisable & irresponsible to format a partition without knowing what it is. What is your guess as to what his E: disk is? I have reason to believe it is his Recovery Tools partition. That is where Windows goes when one clicks a Power icon, then holds Shift, as one clicks Restart. There was a glitch in the upgrade to 1803 that put a letter onto it. All that really need be done is to remove the letter.
