Local Disk E

I updated to the Creators Spring 1803 update yesterday.  Everything seems to be fine although I have not done much since updating.  However I notice in windows explorer under Local disk C another entry for Local disk E?  It is for 449mb in size with 42.9mb free space left.  It opens to show nothing saying the folder is empty.  What is it ?  Anything to do with the update or can I just delete it?

Yes, it is 3 in your case. It can vary to a system by system.

Correct squence:

diskpart

list volume

select volume 3

remove letter="E"

This is one of the known issues I am seeing with the update as Recovery partition should be hidden and is accidentally assigned a drive letter.

Right-click Start>Command Prompt(admin)

Type in the following:

diskpart

list volume

select volume 3

Replace 3 with the number of the volume which is assigned a drive letter. (In hundreds of MBs)

remove letter="G"

Replace G with the Recovery drive letter.

Don't worry, removing a drive letter would not cause any harm to your device.

    Sounds like it is a recovery partition that should be hidden. I would advise that you not delete it. Instead, press Windows key + X then click Disk Management

    Right click the E: partition

    Click Change Drive letters and paths then remove the assigned drive letter.

    Would it have any negative impact if i just left it, and didnt do anything with it. ?

    Format the E-Disk and the problems with the E-Disk will disappear. 

    I have tried everything to remove E.  when I do select Vol 2, remove Ltr E it tells me virtual disk service error.  assigning or removing drive letter on the current boot or pagefile volume is not allowed.  Now I tried disk mgmt. and I right click E and I get "help".  Nothing is working for me with this annoying problem

    Now you must suffer, Mc Ginnis. You have wiped out your Recovery Partition. Now - when you click a power icon then hold shift as you click restart - instead of going to the Recovery Environment (at the Choose an Option screen), you will just reboot to Windows.

    Normally, that would have rebooted to your Windows RE location...

    Same problem I had. KjellSvela's post said to format disk E.

    Find Disk E, right click it, left click format.

    I had 38.8 MB free on disk, now have 403 free. No pop ups. 

    Very easy fix. Did not have to delete.

    To clarify about the problem message: low disk space on local drive E.

    The solution is to remove the letter "E', ie the drive letter that is shown in the message.

    So use the diskpart command, list volume, to find which volume has the letter E and then to remove the letter itself. So first to select the correct volume and then to remove its letter.

    To check, do list volume again to see the "E" has gone.
