Windows 10 update fails yet again - June 2018

So here we go again. There have been 3 major updates to the WIN 10 OS and all have been colossal failures. They take over your computer for 6-10 hours or more, crash, reinstall previous version.... repeat. This is truly a horror story yet again. On the first update, I lost use of my computer for a week while it **** around with these failures. The 2nd, almost a month of interruptions. And on this latest one, just had the first 6+ hour steal and crash. I write this on my Mac which is quickly becoming my system of choice given these ineptitudes. MS try hiring some competent programmers who can send out updates that actually work quickly and efficiently the first time! I look forward to the coming weeks of crashes as it tries and fails over and over and over and over......

I agree with your assessment, but be aware of the following:

This is the current policy of Microsoft concerning the older versions of Win10.

Support for 1703 ended Oct. 9

The Microsoft  Lifecycle page is here:

Thanks, I won't spend any money upgrading to PRO which is about as bad as HOME.  My system continues to freeze after "forced" updates.  Are you aware of any way to stop these terrible and poorly coded/tested updates?  I am fine with staying at version 1709 until Microsoft finally hires good coders and testers.

After all these failures and hard disc freezes I wonder if upgrading from Home to Professional would resolve the problems.  Anyone with Professional having same issues?

    Hi Jim,

I can sadly state, from  my own tedious experiences, that upgrading to Professional will not solve the problem! To cut a boring and long story short, I have been facing all of the issues mentioned on this and other threads since about December 2017. To date, due to the constant freezing and BSODs, I am on my 3rd brand new Surface Pro. The only remedy I have had from my local MS store, has been a complete replacement which I have been only too glad to take them up on. This latest SP so far, 2 weeks in, has not yet crashed or frozen - even whilst streaming from Chrome.

The latest MS update was withdrawn from release recently and I am hoping when it finally is released, all of our issues will be resolved. How's that for naive optimism?

    Good luck.
