Today Microsoft released six updates, but I was only able to get five to successfully install. The sixth update -- KB4340558 -- continually fails with error code 80092004. The full name of the update is: Security and Quality Rollup updates for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, and 4.7.1 for Windows 8.1, RT 8.1, and Server 2012 R2 (KB 4340558) In an attempt to correct this error, I have: Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter Run"dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" Stopped and restarted services pertaining to Wnidows Update -- wuauserv, bits, cryptsvc But none of these steps resolved the problem. This particular update downloads, but simply fails to install. I did a clean reinstall a couple of months ago, so I do not think my system is at fault here. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem with this update?

Hi This is what worked for me: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4340558 https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Reset-Windows-Update-Tool-402a3eef I was able to resolve this today with MS support. reset the windows update tool - the tech downloaded resetWUEng.zip ( https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Reset-Windows-Update-Tool-402a3eef ) - and ran (I gather this is the same a using the troubleshooter on windows update, which I did, and which resets several errors, but which did not work for me) Downloaded the update manually and ran: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4340558 note: I am using the Windows 8.1 download, not the server version. Afterwards, I went into Windows update and hid the 'bad' KB4340558 The tech thought the update that is downloaded via the regular update mechanism might be corrupted. good luck! Max

I've posted notes a couple of places where I was able to fix this by downloading the updates manually. I've downloaded the package with the three installers in it, 2 install the third doesn't, can you supply a link to what you used? Thanks
