Windows 8.1 Update KB4340558 Fails with Error Code 80092004

Im having the same issue on server 2012 r2, i downloaded the three updates that are in the catalog section, two install, one fails, i assume for the same reason the roll up kb fails as well, i think an issue with the patch most likely here.

I.m having the same problem as well.

Other updates all installed successfully but this last one refuses to install.

Restarted, turned off everything but still no joy.

I intend to simply hide the KB4340558 update for the time being.  Hopefully next month in August on "Update Tuesday" (second Tuesday of the month), a corrected version of this update will be available that installs successfully.

Today Microsoft released six updates, but I was only able to get five to successfully install. The sixth update -- KB4340558 -- continually fails with error code 80092004.

The full name of the update is:

Security and Quality Rollup updates for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, and 4.7.1 for Windows 8.1, RT 8.1, and Server 2012 R2 (KB 4340558)

In an attempt to correct this error, I have:

1. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
2. Run"dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth"
3. Stopped and restarted services pertaining to Wnidows Update -- wuauserv, bits, cryptsvc

But none of these steps resolved the problem.  This particular update downloads, but simply fails to install.

I did a clean reinstall a couple of months ago, so I do not think my system is at fault here.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem with this update?

I am having the very same problem with this update. Ran the troubleshooter, rebooted, etc. Multiple attempts to install 4340558 generate the same error: 80092004.

I have installed the prior updates and this is the only outstanding one.

It's weird because the second option should serve you which is for Windows 8.1.

Now I would recommend you to backup your files and install Windows again
