Windows 10 restarting at random times

I can be working on computer during the day and then, for no reason, the thing just shuts off and then restarts. Windows 10

    Hi,

    This might be caused by an antivirus app or a corrupted system file. For us to provide a solution suitable to your concern, we need additional information. Can you answer the questions below?

    • Were there any changes made on your device prior to the issue?
    • When did the issue start to happen?
    • Were there any error codes or messages?
    • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?
    • Did you check your power plan settings?

    In the meantime, try booting your PC in safe mode and see if the same behavior will happen. It will help us isolate the issue further.

    I also have this problem since installation of updates:

    1709 on 12/15

    KB4058043 12/17

    KB4053577 12/15

    KB4054517 12/15

    IDT-CODEC 12/15

    System info windows errors start on 12/15 and the last "black screen" and reboot had no errors reported.  I have an error from earlier in the day but, the time stamp is way off approx 6 hours later than occurrence.

    Hi,

    If you're having the same issue as the original poster, we suggest booting in safe mode as well and see if the same thing will happen. We'd like to know if you have tried any troubleshooting steps so far. Try running Windows update troubleshooter as another workaround and see if it helps.

    I have unchecked auto restart in Advanced settings. It still reboot and leave no error message. I've run DISM.exe and SFC with no errors reported. I have had Geek squad run diagnostics and it still is happening. I had noticed when the system is not being used (waiting for GeeekSquad to become available - 4 + hours New Years eve) it did not crash. I'll give safe mode a shot.
