After installation of KB4056892 boot failure, after roll-back error 0x800f0845

Hi,

I have older AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, Asus MB, after installation of KB4056892 the system doesn't boot, it only shows the Windows logo without animation and nothing more. After several failed boots it do roll-back then it shows error 0x800f0845. Unfortunately, it seems it's not easy to disable the automatic updates without gpedit tweaks, so it tries installing and rolling-back the update over and over. The sfc /scannow shows no problem, in-place upgrade also doesn't seem to help. I can try full reinstall, but I doubt it will change anything. It seems like the update is binary incompatible with my old CPU. I understand that making the machine unbootable is the best protection from remote exploitation, but I would rather have the OS working. Especially if my CPU is not vulnerable to the Meltdown attack and the MS mitigation attempts for Spectre is more than questionable. I could find only some German and Italian people reporting the same issue (well the CPU is quite pre-historic and the KB update is very fresh), but no info / acknowledgment from the MS so far. I have Czech localization. Could anybody provide more information?

    windows update KB4056892 is causing my PC to freeze with windows 10 logo. I done a restore and its working again. windows installed the update again and I have the same problem frozen logo and I cannot use my PC. Can anyone help me to solve this issue

    As perhaps you remember, my PC didn't roll-back and the only strategy was to Reset. I did the Reset with my personal settings. Now PC is resumed but I had to try many times to hide this critical update. Now it is hidden. Now I am facing with another issue. This Win 10 version (PRO 16299.15, FCU) insist to install games like Candy Crush, Solitaire etc. Since the first time I installe Win10, both with gpedit and the registry, I disabled the CloudContent (DisableWindowsConsumerFeatures to 1), but not it seems that these settings are ignored. Even if I uninstall these apps, after a while they are reinstalled!

    Have you some other solution? I have also disabled all I could in Settings-Games...

    I did reset it with the option to save my files.

    It booted and then it froze while I was opening Windows Update settings. After reboot it freezes on the screen with my username. I guess I'll have to try a clean install now.

    Yes, i did. And it does not work - windows still insists on downloading it. My best solution is to change windows update settings from group policy. I use update on defender to get antivirus updates but i am unable get other updates. Suffice to say this is terrible from microsoft. I would be using linux if it wasn't for my folks who are technologically challenged.

    I have the same system, an ASUS motherboard with AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor, and have the same problem. Until the 6th of January 2018 this system was up-to-date. Windows freezes after update and reboot. You switch off the machine and Windows freezes again. After the second startup Windows begins to undo the update. Then Windows starts up normally. I tried to block updates (you can for 35 days), but today the system ignored this after reporting an error and started rebooting and updating. Of course the cyclus repeated itself. Now I permitted myself top postpone updates for 8 days. Hopefully Microsoft finds a patch for this problem. (When logged in as an 'administrator' of your machine, you have these advanced setup options for updates. My wife and I work with a user account not being an administrator of the machine.)
