After installation of KB4056892 boot failure, after roll-back error 0x800f0845

Hi,

I have older AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, Asus MB, after installation of KB4056892 the system doesn't boot, it only shows the Windows logo without animation and nothing more. After several failed boots it do roll-back then it shows error 0x800f0845. Unfortunately, it seems it's not easy to disable the automatic updates without gpedit tweaks, so it tries installing and rolling-back the update over and over. The sfc /scannow shows no problem, in-place upgrade also doesn't seem to help. I can try full reinstall, but I doubt it will change anything. It seems like the update is binary incompatible with my old CPU. I understand that making the machine unbootable is the best protection from remote exploitation, but I would rather have the OS working. Especially if my CPU is not vulnerable to the Meltdown attack and the MS mitigation attempts for Spectre is more than questionable. I could find only some German and Italian people reporting the same issue (well the CPU is quite pre-historic and the KB update is very fresh), but no info / acknowledgment from the MS so far. I have Czech localization. Could anybody provide more information?

    Same problem. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ and windows 10 pro. After the update boot freezes at the blue windows logo with no other activity. After 2 hard resets a roll back to a restore point before the update fixes the start up problem. Just delayed all updates as suggested by this forum (thank you guys and girls for the advice) but the question remains as to what to do after the 35 days. According to the instructions a full update is required before you can postpone the update again for another 35 days.... which means this unfortunate update will have to be re-installed.

    Your time and effort to bring this AMD x2 and KB4056892 discrepancy to light is much appreciated as well as everyones contribution...

    A solution to stop the installation of KB4056892.

    Download a tool call [ wushowhide.diagcab ] from microsoft support.

    Just do a google search to find it.  Run it and disable the KB4056892 update.

    I then had to go through a whole cycle of the update installing(because the update was already partially installed when I ran the tool.)  Then after restarting twice and the system rolling back the update, it now no longer tries to dowload and install the update.

    Woke up this morning to this particular laptop setting on desk with Black Screen and Microsoft logo and no animation. Nothing going on.

    So same/similar issue on older HP60 with AMD Turion X2 RM70 32 bit. My error message was 0x80070643.

    Not Windows 10 Pro but Windows 10 Home build 16299 - so no way to start automatic download and install.

    After 3 rollbacks, found this tread so I don't feel totally stupid for having wasted most of my Sunday trying to "fix" this now known to be un-fixable problem. Had McAfee (updated) on it so with 2nd roll back had wireless off before complete boot up and took McAfee off before restarting it again. Then allowed update KB4056892 to download. Every time the PC rebooted after download and install, black screen with Windows logo and no animation was the only response I got from this particular machine.

    One desktop with AMD A10-6700 no problem. 3 laptops with Intel and McAfee - no problem. One more laptop with Intel - so hopefully that one won't have issues. HP60 dead to the world until later?????

    Hopefully Microsoft will get this (maybe older) AMD issue fixed quickly.

    Finally made some progress. I wasn't able to boot into recovery mode for some reason so I had to use an update disc. It got half way through and said there was an error and couldn't continue installing (I think it was because I was using the Home version to reinstall the Pro version but not sure). It then started to revert back to a previous version. After that it booted ok and I ran the hide/show app and successfully blocked the troublesome update. I restarted right after I blocked it just to make sure but it started to initialize the download, I closed the window and when I checked on it again after a couple of minutes it was gone. The computer is now up to date minus the KB4056892 update. Going to make a restore point after I make sure everything else is updated. WOOHOO!

    I'm wondering if Microsoft have removed KB4056892 update as I just stopped pausing updates and checked for any updates and there wasn't any. I checked a second time and still nothing. In any case, I've changed update policy setting to '2 - Notify for download and notify for install'
