Well yes, KB4056892 appears to be a bit of a trouble maker.......
So far we have "Bricked" an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, Asus M3A78-V3, Win 10 Home (32bit). Dies during boot with no animation.
System repair cannot fix the problem.
After a system refresh the system will boot and appears functional.
I have NOT attempted service/recreate at this time.
Odd as it might sound the AMD 6000+ may be the lesser problem.
AMD FX 8150, ASUS M5A97, Win 10 Pro (64Bit). AI Suit II has stopped working.
Amongst other functions AI Suit can customize fan speeds.
Fortunately there are Fan Advance tables in BIOS . Fan/Tempura relationship set to "Turbo"
Open Hardware Monitor correctly reporting temp, fan speeds and clocking.
I'm not ready to investigate if Speedfan will crash the device just yet.
Now a nice thing about most newer ASUS MBs is there are fan advance tables in BIOS.
What is better is that if you select injudicious settings all fans will default to full speed.
A real concern would be if some CPU/MB combination defaults to LOWEST speed if the OS can no longer control fan speed. Here after the CPU MELTDOWN the new CPU/MB combination may not be susceptible to Meltdown.
So much for AMD/ASUS combinations (at least the ones suffering KB4056892). Nothing else is getting powered on for the time being.
I will append/open other threads as I discover more information.
PS.
Jaroslav, The X2 6000+ may be a relic however it still makes a wonderful signal generator, DVD/CD Burner and general all around "grunt" work machine.
