At last got this update installed and believe or not but the computer is much usable with the new build. The meltdown patch doesn't seem to slow it down but actually resolves some hiccups I had with it before. The disk IO response time is much better.
Maybe this is ultimate fix for lot of computers new and old which feeled slow(SSD or not) even if benchmarks doesn't show any bottlenecks.
edit: After KB4058258 update can't search for new updates got error 0x800705b4. Disabling windows defender for moment fixed this issue.
Meltdown vulnerability is not on AMD chips.
The Meltdown/Spectre update on Intel chips was almost as bad as this with Microsoft having to issue an update to undo the Intel microcode update. The Intel microcode update was causing unexpected reboots with possible data loss.
