I wish I could disable updates but unfortunately I have the home version. I am running an AMD x2 6400+. I have to rollback everyday due to the issue. It is very frustrating!
After installation of KB4056892 boot failure, after roll-back error 0x800f0845
Hi,
I have older AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, Asus MB, after installation of KB4056892 the system doesn't boot, it only shows the Windows logo without animation and nothing more. After several failed boots it do roll-back then it shows error 0x800f0845. Unfortunately, it seems it's not easy to disable the automatic updates without gpedit tweaks, so it tries installing and rolling-back the update over and over. The sfc /scannow shows no problem, in-place upgrade also doesn't seem to help. I can try full reinstall, but I doubt it will change anything. It seems like the update is binary incompatible with my old CPU. I understand that making the machine unbootable is the best protection from remote exploitation, but I would rather have the OS working. Especially if my CPU is not vulnerable to the Meltdown attack and the MS mitigation attempts for Spectre is more than questionable. I could find only some German and Italian people reporting the same issue (well the CPU is quite pre-historic and the KB update is very fresh), but no info / acknowledgment from the MS so far. I have Czech localization. Could anybody provide more information?

2018-01-09T18:44:14+00:00 I have a PC with AMD Athlon 64X2, and the latest update, which I ran last thing Jan 7 in shutting down, resulted in frozen windows load screen, as reported by others Monday morning January 8th. After a few attempts a diagnosis and repair interface appeared, and I have tried each of the options except reinstall Windows.
It cannot find a system restore point to return to: "No system restore points have been created"
Using "Startup Repair" does not work: "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC"
Windows does not succeed in loading when "Change Windows Startup Behavior" option is tried
It cannot go back to a previous build: "We ran into a problem and won't be able to take you back to the previous build"
Additionally, it will not start in Safe Mode, pressing F8 during system startup.
Following the procedures offered on Monday Jan 8 by Microsoft admin ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14238/windows-10-troubleshoot-blue-screen-errors )
also did not yield a working solution.
I await a workable Windows 10 repair option.
I have a similar computer with AMD 64x2 5000+ processor. After KB 4056892 tried to install the computer froze on restart at the windows flag/black screen
Fortunately I had a Windows 10 64 bit DVD recently made so I put that in the drive and selected 'repair
from the options I chose repair start up
after a few minutes of diagnosis and two restarts it started to remove the last update and everything is back to normal
I have put an 8 day delay on the computer reinstalling KB4056892 in the hope Microsoft will have come up with a new version of this update fpr AMD computers
