Yes, a similar problem that I had.  It looks like there is more than one solution provided in the thread, but the way I solved it was to create a new user id on the machine and set it as an admin user.  I then rebooted and logged in under the new id.  Then went back to Windows Update and let it do its thing.  The updates were applied and the errors went away.  After everything looked good, I removed the temp user id from the machine.

The issue went away for me when I got rid of a drive with the letter A:. It seems that on systems with A:\ or B:\ drives present, Windows Update and Windows Store downloads fail. Remove the drives or map them to another letter and updates (may) start working again.

I do have permanent fix for this, you don't need to dig into this more. 

1. Check your windows version, by pressing windows + R > winver
2. Click on https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4043454/windows-10-windows-server-update-history
3. Download the latest version from Microsoft Update Catalog 
4. Install the update into your system, issue will get resolved.
