DOWNLOAD UPDATE CORRECTION

Before you do anything create a restore point just in case. 

1. Go to Microsoft update catalog and download the KB4073290 update that is for you under the link below:

2. Save the file into a local temp folder any folder. Do not use special characters for the temp folder. A simple name like "Win Temp" should be fine. 
3. Download the KB4073290 update and move the file to your new folder in step 2 above. I put this on a USB drive. 
4. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features 
5. Left top corner click on View Installed Updates 
6. Scroll to the bottom and look for Microsoft Windows 
7. Look for KB4058043 if it is there, uninstall it 
8. Reboot your machine 
9. *NOTE* after the reboot DO NOT go check for updates again, as the machine will realize KB4058043 is not there and put it right back. 
10. Go to your folder in step 2 above and click on the KB4073290 update and install. Your machine will re-boot 
11. After the reboot check for updates. Your error should be gone. 
12. Delete the folder in step 2 above.

I followed this instruction 'to the letter'. It appeared not to work in that the red warning message was still there after the reboot at the end of the procedure. KB4073290 was now installed, but so was KB4058043. I then followed the normal instruction to 'Check for Updates' and the red warning message almost immediately vanished and 'Your device is up to date...' was displayed, so I am assuming that all is now well again....

TL;DR - Download Tweaking.com windows repair tool here.

Pretty self explanatory.

The tool will run automatically after installation. It will look intimidating at first, but bear with it. Skip the initial "pre-repair" and go straight to "jump to repairs" (big button in middle) or "repairs main", second tab upper left.

Then click Preset Windows Update (lower right tab). It will load up and if youre not in safe mode ( i did it without being in safe mode ) it will ask you to click, "I understand the warning". After that click start repairs.

Takes about 5 minutes, at least for me it did, it will go through 9 jobs and then ask you to restart/reboot the computer.

Then try windows update again. It should work. For me, it said windows was up to date. So im not sure why it kept telling me my device was at risk and not showing any updates if I already had all the updates. Probably just a bug.

You can delete KB4058043 if you dont use the windows store ( i dont ). It fixes issues with store stability, downloading when it shouldnt and other issues.

KB4073290 is for older AMD cpu users... how old, i dont know, im running a ryzen 7 so it doesnt apply to my system and did not fix anything. This in response to R. Anthony post.

Major geeks .com is your friend. A lot of useful 3rd party tweaks and tools there. All i did was search "Windows 10 update fix" scrolled down and found one, it said in the description it was no longer supported (probably still works though) and to use the tweaking .com window repair tool.

It also fixed an internet connection issue i was having to. After turning on the computer, the network connect icon would have the yellow triangle with exclamation icon on it and it would take about a minute or so before it would connect. When it should just be connected.

anyways, hope this helps some people out. You can uninstall it afterwards or just create a folder titled "Utilities/Utility" and keep it. Furthermore, dont keep anything important on your computer. If you have to, go buy a usb flash drive, theyre like $30 for 128g usb 3.0 and keep everything important on it and all these useful utilities in case your system messes up again.

This didn't work for me. I don't have that KB installed on my PC, but I assume that's okay. I got an error that states it's not applicable to my computer. I'm running Windows 10 Enterprise.
