Windows 10 won't go to sleep after recent fall update

ImHereToCollect….  you are a genius! I've been to Microsoft help for 3 days...they messed up my computer bad ….could hardly use it.

I had to go back to a previous date... before I allowed them in (Remote access) to fix it.   My computer (an older HP) wouldn't stay asleep...it would wake back up after a few minutes...and my cursor was changing into a scroll button on it's own and when I used Edge...multiple pages were opening!

YOU fixed it all...one thing...it didn't work until I rebooted.  I had rebooted before many times over the last few days.  They disabled my video card and put a Microsoft card in...what a mess it was. You indeed do need to collect...Microsoft should pay you big.

I too had a similar issue. I'm posting because this thread is one of the top results Google gives for Windows 10 sleep problems.

The solution that worked for two computers I had that were not sleeping was as follows:

• Run an admin command prompt
• powercfg -requests
  • This command lists all processes or services currently running that are preventing the computer from sleeping. The list is helpfully broken down by categories. One of my affected computers had sleep blocked by the IncrediBuild component of Visual Studio, the other by a different TSR program.

I have an AMD Radeon RX580 video adapter with latest drivers. The monitor turns off and immediately after a second it will turn back on.

Using "powercfg /requests" from Command Prompt gives nothing.

Uninstalling latest AMD Drivers and using the one from Microsoft which in turn has an exclamation mark in device manager turns off the display properly.

Sounds like a complete nonsense Microsoft...

If I install latest driver without reboot the display turns off properly. If I reboot the computer the display will no longer turn off.

I have Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3050 - keyboard and mouse.

When I unplug the USB transceiver the display turns off properly as it used to before updating to 1809. If the transceiver is plugged into a USB port the PC monitor turns off and immediately after a second it will turn back on. All of this won't happen if I uninstall AMD graphics driver.

There is something wrong with this combination of software/hardware Windows 10 October update 1809, Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3050 and AMD Radeon Graphics (RX580 in my case).

I too have a AMD graphics card...please follow the directions given by "ImHereToCollect" above.  Simple and it worked for me.

I have an older HP desktop 64 bit...computer would go to sleep when I manually did it...but would then wake up on it's own a few

minutes later...I had it set to sleep after idol for 15 minutes...that did not work at all...my cursor was turning into a scroll icon all by

itself and when I opened Edge and went to a website...I looked up and anywhere from 4 to 8 other sites had opened all on their own!

One of Microsoft agents ( I went through 3 in 2 days!) put the Microsoft driver in and that really made a mess...the screen looked like a magnifying glass and it was S-L-O-W!

I finally figured out how to go back...I'm not a techie...so I put my computer back to before the Microsoft people messed with it and

then I started reading here...because the update was still in place...you can't get ride of them!...anyway the above instructions worked for me.

I have a desktop computer and that option is not available in the settings. But i reverted to build 1803 and now the display turns off properly again.
