Windows 10 won't go to sleep after recent fall update

Have checked there are no active wake timers Turned off wake via Ethernet and all drivers/BIOS seem up to date. Any suggestion as to why this is happening and is this a known bug requiring a patch? Also via powercfg no application are preventing sleep

I too had a similar issue. I'm posting because this thread is one of the top results Google gives for Windows 10 sleep problems.

The solution that worked for two computers I had that were not sleeping was as follows:

  • Run an admin command prompt
  • powercfg -requests
    • This command lists all processes or services currently running that are preventing the computer from sleeping. The list is helpfully broken down by categories. One of my affected computers had sleep blocked by the IncrediBuild component of Visual Studio, the other by a different TSR program.

    For you or others that may have this problem I found that updating the Intel rapid storage fixed the issue.  Intel has a nice tool for updating all their drivers in their support section. Simple download it and it will tell you what needs an update.  Hope it helps anyone

    Also not that device manager and driver updates did not find the issue or resolve it. Only going to the Intel page.

    Hello , I have resolved this problem like this :

    In control panel / network and internet , network connections right click on Ethernet network adapter , go to properties , click on Configure network adapter , go to power management option and turn off (uncheck) " allow this device to wake the computer"  and turn on (check) "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" .

    It has to be the latest Windows 10 updates. My New Cyber Monday HP i7 Windows 10 Home computer was working fine until about a month or so ago then all of a sudden it wouldn't go into sleep mode. My laptop, which I hadn't used in a while, was and is sleeping just fine. I finally did all of the windows 10 updates and now it is not entering sleep mode either. So I must assume that something in the updates is making this happen. Actually I feel better now because I have tried almost everything, even having an HP tech access my computer for almost 2 hours. His only final suggestion was to restore like new or reinstall Windows 10, both of which I didn't want to do. So until MS comes out with a fix I guess I am stuck with putting it to sleep manually. Come on MS, FIX THE PROBLEM!!!
