Windows 10 won't go to sleep after recent fall update

Have checked there are no active wake timers Turned off wake via Ethernet and all drivers/BIOS seem up to date. Any suggestion as to why this is happening and is this a known bug requiring a patch? Also via powercfg no application are preventing sleep

I too had a similar issue. I'm posting because this thread is one of the top results Google gives for Windows 10 sleep problems.

The solution that worked for two computers I had that were not sleeping was as follows:

  • Run an admin command prompt
  • powercfg -requests
    • This command lists all processes or services currently running that are preventing the computer from sleeping. The list is helpfully broken down by categories. One of my affected computers had sleep blocked by the IncrediBuild component of Visual Studio, the other by a different TSR program.

    same.  Problem started for me after a recent Windows 10 update.  Tried almost everything stated above.  

    "go to power management option and turn off (uncheck) " allow this device to wake the computer" =worked

    I was running into various problems which were preventing my machine from going into sleep it seems it was keyboard or some USB device.

    I face this so often that I wrote a simple program called systemsleeep which puts your computer to sleep if its not used for 15 mins (15 mins idle time) It doesnt put it to sleep if the screen is active to prevent it in cases your machine is playing videos music etc.

    it requires .net 4.5 or 4.0 i can recompile it to 2.0 if there is interest.
