Have checked there are no active wake timers Turned off wake via Ethernet and all drivers/BIOS seem up to date. Any suggestion as to why this is happening and is this a known bug requiring a patch? Also via powercfg no application are preventing sleep

I too had a similar issue. I'm posting because this thread is one of the top results Google gives for Windows 10 sleep problems.

The solution that worked for two computers I had that were not sleeping was as follows:

  • Run an admin command prompt
  • powercfg -requests
    • This command lists all processes or services currently running that are preventing the computer from sleeping. The list is helpfully broken down by categories. One of my affected computers had sleep blocked by the IncrediBuild component of Visual Studio, the other by a different TSR program.

When I ran the powercfg /requests the following came up:

    \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Users\ron00\AppData\Roaming\AGData\bin\AnonymizerLauncher.exe

    \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Users\ron00\AppData\Roaming\AGData\bin\proxycheck.exe

Don't know what it means or if there  is anything I can do to mitigate it.

go to page 3 of this posting and follow the directions of "ImHereToCollect"....read it carefully...when he says "expand"...that means

to click the + sign on the Sleep in the little box that pops up...  after you have done that...reboot.  It fixed it for me.  Good Luck

'Restore (Power) Plan Defaults' does not work for me.

It is absurd that 'Sleep' does not mean 'SLEEP in spite of all wake timers, drivers, device settings etc'.

There needs to be a SLEEP WHATEVER option.  I am suggesting this to AVG Tune Up, but why is something so obvious not already available in the OS?

I have disabled hybernation via powercfg so I don't have the related option in settings. The case is a bit more complicated as you can see from my posts. Different hardware components and/or drivers plugged in or unplugged change the final result. I consider it as a Windows October update bug as it is not an issue with build 1803.
