Error Code: 0x80072f76 0x20017. Windows media creation tool.

I've disabled the defender and other software for malware and virus protection and tried moving the executable to desktop and then launching it. I don't have an idea whats wrong with it! Any help is much appreciated.

I was able to solve it on a 2016 Lenovo laptop by disabling antivirus until next reboot and pointing my DNSs to Google Ones.

Hope this helps someone else as well.

    Hi, I have downloaded this media creation tool from Microsoft Edge browser, but still have this error message when I execute the program I am not sure why and what to do, I previously used this tool to download previous windows version and it does works OK, but not this time, I searched the community site and no solution yet, hope any one have the solution.

    I was getting the same error on three different machines (including a Surface Pro). Obviously the tool is faulty at present. The best option is to download the ISO directly (i.e. avoid the Media Creation Tool completly). But to do this you must trick Microsoft into thinking your PC can't run the MCT (otherwise you just get redirected back to the MCT page). A few posts up from here is an excellent response from Lokestar which explains what needs to be done. I also found this link which is slightly more verbose...

    When i go to the link it automatically redirects me to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10.

    No option for installing the iso file only. This is extremely frustrating, I wiped my laptop and need to reinstall windows and post it to a customer by monday. At this rate I won't be able to do that!!!

    Change the browser user agent string to iPad (Safari) and you'll get the direct download ISO links. More info @
