I was able to solve it on a 2016 Lenovo laptop by disabling antivirus until next reboot and pointing my DNSs to Google Ones.
Hope this helps someone else as well.

I've disabled the defender and other software for malware and virus protection and tried moving the executable to desktop and then launching it. I don't have an idea whats wrong with it! Any help is much appreciated.

2017-11-12T02:16:32+00:00 The key with Macrium is it repairs the boot system on your main drive (C: drive).
This then allowed the media creation tool to work again on my PC.
I suspect a windows upgrade incorrectly modified the boot file - not enough to prevent windows booting but enough to confuse the media creation tool.
My theory only here.
Still waiting for someone else to try and repair the boot system on their machine and verify this was indeed the problem. Or is the tool working for everyone now due to a Microsoft fix on the tool???

2017-11-11T05:03:35+00:00 OK, I now have the media creation tool running perfectly again.
I'm not sure if the fix will work for all but I would like some feedback.
I downloaded Macrium Reflect (Free Version - Home)
https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
I then created a rescue USB, booted form the rescue USB then restored/repaired the Windows boot system (Restore non-booting systems).
After that all good. Media Creation tool works perfectly!!!!
If a few of you can confirm this is repeatable this would help everyone with the issue.
Please have a go and feedback your results.
It takes less than 5min so worth the investment in time.
