Error Code: 0x80072f76 0x20017. Windows media creation tool.

I've disabled the defender and other software for malware and virus protection and tried moving the executable to desktop and then launching it. I don't have an idea whats wrong with it! Any help is much appreciated.

I was able to solve it on a 2016 Lenovo laptop by disabling antivirus until next reboot and pointing my DNSs to Google Ones.

Hope this helps someone else as well.

    None of the 6 pages solutions worked for me.

    However I tried to launch Start menu --> Settings --> Security and Updates and reboot and then once again. It found Malicious software removal tools twice to install so I did and finally, after the third reboot, it worked for me.

    Workaround:

    1. Right-click on MediaCreationTool app and select Properties.
    2. Select the Compatibility tab, then check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode:"
    3. Select one old version of Windows, like Windows 8 or Windows 7, in the dropdown box.
    4. Hit Apply, then run the Media Creation Tool.

    Work for me. And remember to run as Administrator.

    Hi Saito,

    Mine was resolved a while back. Had posted it too.

    I finally contacted customer support & they got the ISO file downloaded. The customer care executive got the ISO the same way as it is given in the link below.

    Even though there was Chrome & Edge, he used internet explorer to do it.

    The best part was I just described the issue as "Media creation tool error" & once remote access was granted he just ran the SFC /scannow command.

    When that came out OK, He just went about downloading the ISO. Looks like a lot of people are having this issue it seems.

    Only thing is that the ISO has all the versions so it is more than 4GB.
