Windows 10 missing first keystrokes from Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard after Fall Creators' Update

I do not find my bletootul at leptop and I do not find the driver for Windovs 10, I have an HP Pavilion

I deliberately didn't describe what I did because I didn't want to turn this thread into a "this OS is better than that OS" type of arguments.  At the risk of doing that, I simply went to a Mac and Linux solution (used both many times over the years).  I was going to go into more detail about why, but it's not the point of this thread.

Back on topic though, as I said, I wanted to use Bluetooth keyboard with the Windows machine, but also came across the other issue (that Apple seem to have solved) of how do you get into the BIOS/UEFI with them since the UEFI has no Bluetooth stack... so a second keyboard is required just for that.  One solution to avoid that is to use a HID proxy, but I only found one dongle device that could do that and the manufacturers wouldn't make the software generally available.

Another thing I noticed is that the problem of missing characters after a period of inactivity are possibly due to the keyboard itself going to sleep and taking several seconds to respond to the first key press.  I would have thought the logical thing to do was at least buffer all keystrokes until Bluetooth could re-establish, but apparently not.

I have a Surface Book 2 which is barely more than a year old, with all updates and the original keyboard that came with the SB2.  It exhibiting this behavior recently.  I am not certain if it started after an update.   The canned solutions that are usually given here are totally useless, they hardly ever help when the problem is inherent in the system.   If I did not use Onenote and the pen capabilities of the SB2 I would have switched to Linux long ago.   The SB2 is supposed to be the flagship device and MS can't even do that right.
