Windows 10 missing first keystrokes from Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard after Fall Creators' Update

After updating to the Fall Creators' Update, Windows misses the first several keystrokes from my Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard. This occurs when after rebooting, first logging in or simply after the keyboard has been idle for a bit.  The problem happens not only in Windows, but in all applications, too.

I have replaced the keyboard batteries and the problem persists.

I have tried another identical keyboard and the problem persists with that keyboard, too.

I have checked for driver updates, but Device Manager indicates that I have the latest drivers.

The problem did not happen before updating to the Fall Creators' Update.

    I ran the Microsoft Easy Fix for "Find and fix problems with devices and hardware". While this made some (unidentified) changes that required a reboot, the keyboard issue remains unchanged.

    Do you have other suggestions?

    Hi Dan,

    There may be a compatibility issue between the keyboard and the new version of Windows 10 that is why some keystrokes are missing. Since you've already tried a few things to isolate the issue on your keyboard, we still need to verify if the issue is with the hardware or software. We recommend that you use a different type of keyboard for us to know if you will be able to use all of the keys.

    Kindly update us if you can use your computer normally when using a different keyboard.

    I have exactly the same issue.

    Both my home and work computers, both using Microsoft Designer Bluetooth keyboard. Worked no problems prior to update. It would appear that the first two keys pressed after not using for a wee while do not get registered.

    System 1

    Intel NUC with Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop

    System 2

    Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop

    Please help.

    A compatibility issue between the new version of Windows 10 and the Bluetooth keyboard can be the reason why you're encountering the missing keystrokes issue. Like what we've mentioned in our last reply, we suggest using a different kind of keyboard. This is for us to know if the issue is with the specific keyboard or not.
