Windows 10 missing first keystrokes from Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard after Fall Creators' Update

After updating to the Fall Creators' Update, Windows misses the first several keystrokes from my Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Keyboard. This occurs when after rebooting, first logging in or simply after the keyboard has been idle for a bit.  The problem happens not only in Windows, but in all applications, too.

I have replaced the keyboard batteries and the problem persists.

I have tried another identical keyboard and the problem persists with that keyboard, too.

I have checked for driver updates, but Device Manager indicates that I have the latest drivers.

The problem did not happen before updating to the Fall Creators' Update.

The support manager "doesn't know" and can't fix this problem.  Despite telling him that it works on non-windows 10 installs and that many others are experiencing the exact same issue, he still wants to replace the keyboard which as we all know, isn't the right answer.

For what it's worth though, I agree with you that this is a power management issue and they did this to preserve battery life and all my research suggests that others agree as well.

Can you see if the support manager agrees with my theory on the device driver state on page 6 of this thread?  I'd like to know if I was on the right path or not.

What's even worse.  This is a windows 10 problem.  It does not happen on my mac, nor does it happen on various linux installations I've tried (including chromeOS.  I have not tried it on windows versions previous to 10.  Everything I've read seems to point to a power management issue but there doesn't seem to be any way to turn this off anymore.  I have a call to return to an MS support manager tomorrow morning.  Hopefully we can get this escalated up the chain and get a fix.

I have learned to adapt by pressing the Shift key before using the keyboard.  If I am starting with a capital I double tap on the shift key.  Sad that I have to do this to correct a MS problem.

I have the same issue.  I am on a HP workstation and it only started happening when I migrated from W7 to W10.

Especially troublesome when you have to input a password where you can't see what is being written so you never know if it missed a letter.
