How permanently stop windows 10 force updates

I'm using an ACER aspire ES 14 laptop and it's been with me for over a year now with no problems whatsoever. Not until the start of 2018 where out of nowhere, windows 10 wants me to install their updates. Now for how long have I been ignoring those latest updates and seen some of the peoples complaints in recent forums that the newest updates destroys their PC/laptops instead of making it better, I'm kinda scared and also don't have the time to get all of the updates in my laptop. First, it was the windows assistant that was bugging me, where it would just show up and stops me for doing anything else. I tried the following method of going to "Services" and disabling both "Background Intelligence Transfer" and "Windows Update" and restarted my laptop, but of course those didn't work since it will automatically enables themselves again while also installing windows 10 assistant back. So I tried another method I found here that needs me to go to Task Scheduler and do some tweaking here and there,  and what do you know, it worked! At least for 3 weeks... Then a few days ago, I found windows 10 assistant installs itself again, so I had to do the same steps I did before and it worked so far, then the next day where I was expecting it to install itself again. Something new happened, instead of windows 10 assistant, I just received a notification in my Action Center that "We're getting your PC up to date" and I know for sure that it's still a windows update and this is the part that's making me nuts and stressed out since I have no idea how to stop this, I'm all out of options even from searching this on the web. So I really need help from this.

    The only way to stop the updates is to disconnect from the Internet so the system can't receive them (this makes Windows 10 work the same as iPad, iPhone, tablets, Xbox, PlayStation, and other consumer electronic devices).  This is why Windows 10 is a continuous service, not a one-time product.  If you don't agree to the updates, you actually aren't legally allowed to use the system. You don't own Windows, you license the temporary restricted rights to use it. Those are the license terms of contract, and updates are required.  Your only alternative is to use another product instead.

    We can help you solve any problem you have at all to get your system working properly, but there's no "off switch" for updates, no matter what you do.

    What the H.... kind of answer is that? If the win 10 update will not install on crappy windows 10, what is the end user to do? I have been trying for two days now to install the latest win 10 update and each time I get a different windows error code. We really don,t understand why this update is failing!

    Hi Larry, we can fix it.  Just tell us what your problem is.  That error code you got would probably help a ton.

    Since this is a cumbersome thread of many people with different issues, please post your own question so you can get dedicated help specific to yourself alone.  We'll jump in and help you.

    I agree,I was chatting to a guy from the Microsoft help desk who was trying to help me he says  a new update comes out within the next few weeks. Maybe they know this upgrade has failed most people.

    My system version is 1703 the upgrade is 1709. I think he said the new new version is 86.... The annoying thing is my system works so well until now. He said its a problem with my BIOS setup which expired 2013.Problem is im not IT.

    The 1709 update hasn't failed for most people.  Many sure, but there's 800 million people using it already without a problem.

    They aren't releasing a new update "in response to 1709" or as a reaction.  The next update, 1803, has been being planned for years now.

    1709 means Update for September of 2017

    1803 means Update March of 2018  (coming in a few weeks

    There will be another big update in 1809, and again in 1903.   Every 6 months.

    Ok sorry if I misunderstood,could you ask the millions that have got it working.How ?.

    In particular if using version 1703.

    Then we can tell the rest of the world.
