How permanently stop windows 10 force updates

I'm using an ACER aspire ES 14 laptop and it's been with me for over a year now with no problems whatsoever. Not until the start of 2018 where out of nowhere, windows 10 wants me to install their updates. Now for how long have I been ignoring those latest updates and seen some of the peoples complaints in recent forums that the newest updates destroys their PC/laptops instead of making it better, I'm kinda scared and also don't have the time to get all of the updates in my laptop. First, it was the windows assistant that was bugging me, where it would just show up and stops me for doing anything else. I tried the following method of going to "Services" and disabling both "Background Intelligence Transfer" and "Windows Update" and restarted my laptop, but of course those didn't work since it will automatically enables themselves again while also installing windows 10 assistant back. So I tried another method I found here that needs me to go to Task Scheduler and do some tweaking here and there,  and what do you know, it worked! At least for 3 weeks... Then a few days ago, I found windows 10 assistant installs itself again, so I had to do the same steps I did before and it worked so far, then the next day where I was expecting it to install itself again. Something new happened, instead of windows 10 assistant, I just received a notification in my Action Center that "We're getting your PC up to date" and I know for sure that it's still a windows update and this is the part that's making me nuts and stressed out since I have no idea how to stop this, I'm all out of options even from searching this on the web. So I really need help from this.

    I'm in this situation, I lost my data because of the FORCED updates !!!, it's been a long time since I shifted the updates, but Microsoft forced the update on my computer, and the result is that my pc does not work anymore, I have to try everything, reinstallation, reboot ... nothing works, I lost all my data thanks to Microsoft and I am in exam period I can not do my duty what a loss !! ... I hate Microsoft with their new way of managing it sucks. I think it's time to switch to OS or Linux

    No, you lost your data because you had not taken responsibility for YOUR data and backed it up.  What if the hard drive had failed?  You would have equally lost the data.  What if the laptop was stolen?  You would have lost the data.

    There is no reason in this day and age for people to lose data, there are many different backup or syncing options around.  Office 365 plays very well with Windows 10 but if you want vendor segregation there are many others.  Even a USB drive backup is better than relying on just the drive in the laptop.

    I am having this same problem with a Dell Optiplex 755. I am industry professional and infrastructure architect for a large consultancy and I have never seen a problem like this.

    It is definitely caused by the Windows 10 Update that has come out in the last month or so but not on all machines. I don't think it affects all machines because not all of the 10 or so machines in my home lab Opti 755, 9020, Lat 6430S & 6440) have been affected. I have however tried it on 4 different Opti 755's and it results in the same error on each of them after the update. All of these machines have been running Windows 10 since it came out with no problems.

    This is the error I get.

    I have googled this error and have tried literally every solution I could find and nothing worked EXCEPT to force the boot process into recovery mode (power off several times during boot) and then go to the button to revert back to the previous version of the software. When it does that, I will work again but the automatic update restarts and causes the problem again. 

    Today I did a FRESH INSTALL of Windows 10 from a Dell labeled Windows 10 install disk. Everything went fine until the update. After the install I joined it to the domain and no prob. I could login to my domain, access the NAS and do everytihing you would expect. After the update I get the message above.

    Any help, guidance, advice or whatever would really be appreciated. I can recreate the problem at will but it does take an image restore and then the update.

    The original post contained a graphic of the error which did not work.

    The message has an "Install Windows" header in the top bar and the error message is "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."

    However, there is not way to restart the install. If you restart the machine you get the same error.

    Definitely are but from an os operator that has a broad view of all their customers and values not a everyone must fit in this box view point.

    How's that access to 360 going?

    Luckily we use Google business for the majority of our major data store. Unluckily some laptops are with one sighted Microsoft.
