Hi, I have a problem with the camera app on a Microsoft Surface (bought it 2-3 months ago). When I open it, everything seems OK, the two cameras (front and back) seem to be working fine (no black screen or anything), but when I try to click on the icon to take a picture, I get this error code: "0xA00F424F <PhotoCaptureFileCreationFailed> (0x80131500)". I tried everything I found on the internet so far to solve the problem, nothing worked: I looked for updates of course Desactivate / re-activate the camera on the Device manager Went to System > Apps and features > Camera > Advanced Options > Reset (a solution I found elsewhere but didn't work for me) Finally I un-installed the Camera app with Powershell and re-installed it with Windows Store, and I still get the same error message I use the camera a lot for my work, and it was working without any problem these past days. The only recent change I did is that I removed yesterday the destination folder "Camera Roll" from my local disk to free some space on it (I use Dropbox, so I just chose in the preferences of the Dropbox app to not synchronize the "Camera Roll" folder on my computer - so the pictures stay stored online but are removed from my local disk)... But it was not the first time I did that, and usually it causes no problem: when I take a new picture after removing the "Camera Roll" folder, the Camera app just create a new destination folder named "Camera Roll"... I hope to find quickly a solution, I really need the camera working! (and sorry for my possible mistakes, I'm not an native English speaker, hope I'm clear though)

I had the Same problem too. and, I'm Finally Find the way. type the 'library' or '%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries' in Explorer Address Bar. Right click on 'Camera Roll' and Select Property Add your 'Camera Roll' folder you want location. Click 'Set Default Save Location'.

I had the same problem. The solution for me became apparent when I read DaveM121's post. The error was I had previously deleted the Camera Roll Folder from the My Pictures folder. Simply right clicking in the My Pictures folder, creating a new folder and naming it Camera Roll and then resetting the camera settings to store pictures into the c:/ My Pictures folder did the trick. Thank you so much! Recently, I noticed that my newly taken pictures and videos could no longer be found in the Microsoft Photos gallery app. To see where the Camera App saved my media, I took a photo, clicked on the new picture preview square, right-clicked on the picture, selected Open Folder, and all of my new photos were saved in a OneDrive folder. That OneDrive folder was in the Windows (C:) directory, and I never bother to touch anything in there. I was very confused as to how my Camera Roll folder got created in there. So, I moved my "Camera Roll" folder from the "OneDrive" folder to the "Pictures" folder (where I usually store media), and that was disastrous. The camera app could no longer save my photos or capture my videos. I followed what you did, and essentially, that was to create the folder where it originally came from. So I created another "Camera Roll" folder under this directory ( this could be different for others depending on where your computer saves its media as default ): C:\Users\my name\OneDrive\Pictures . I got lucky because I recalled where the "Camera Roll" folder was originally from on my computer. Now I learned my lesson on not to touch important system files, such as moving, deleting, copying, and pasting. I advise everyone to learn from my mistakes!
