Hello, 

I want to reinstall my windows 10 64 bit into a new SSD I bought.

I am trying to create a USB flash drive using windows media creation tool but I am getting this error every time. I have tried it on 4 laptops and 1 desktop, and with 3 different pendrives.

Hi Divyank,

The error code 0x80072F76-0x20017 means that the tool doesn't have permission for it to run. For us to assist you, we suggest that you follow the simple steps listed below:

  1. Right-click on the Media Creation Tool.exe.
  2. Press Properties.
  3. Click on General.
  4. At the bottom, click on Unblock.
  5. Press Apply, and then OK.

    First, Under the suggested tab "General" there is no Unblock option to select nor is there a apply.

    Running this under the option "Run as Administrator" did not solve the problem either.

    This was using the file version 10.0.16299.15

    Under General the ONLY two attributes available was Read-Only and Hidden

    So mind worked for no reason didnt changed anything well actually changed one thing my dns to 9.9.9.9 but i really dont think that played a part.

    I faced the issue some time ago and forgot about until had the need to get latest ISO.

    Searched some more online and found solution at least for me, I tried different internet service provider. Works with my 4G connection but not with ADSL.

    HI i try this tool on 3 diffrent computers and it does not work bc i bought a computer without acces to the win 10 cd key this is my only solution to acculy change hdd on my computer im not sure where to go from this ?

    • Run as admin does not work
    • Changing DNS did not Work
