Hello,

I want to reinstall my windows 10 64 bit into a new SSD I bought.

I am trying to create a USB flash drive using windows media creation tool but I am getting this error every time. I have tried it on 4 laptops and 1 desktop, and with 3 different pendrives.

The actual solution is that this tool is not broken.  It is a Windows 8 executable because they created it so that they only needed a single tool for upgrade from Windows 8 to 10, transfer to another PC and/or reinstall.

So it is a Windows 8 file, run it in compatibility mode for Windows 8 and it works fine.  (Of course in admin mode too).

All of the other workarounds just spoof your PC past the version checker at the ISO download site but using compatibility mode is the proper method.

Yes, they should have a different tool for each OS version AND they should have some sort of instructions to let you know to run it in compatibility mode, but they don't so just do it if you want the file.

Running it in Windows 8 Compatibility mode works just as well as all other suggestions, meaning it doesn't most of the time and does once in a while.  Windows 8 Compatibility mode isn't the answer.

Sometimes the tool works, sometimes it doesn't.  Why that is no one has been able to successfully answer as of yet.

One thing I can say with 100% certainty:  the issue has to do with the tool's communication with the server, though what part of that communication I don't know.

Hi, i don't know how but now it's working well...thanl you for the explanation
