Volume bar won't go away/volume stuck at 100

For the past 6 days the volume bar has not gone away. I try to turn down the volume, but it gradually goes back to 100. The bar gets in the way, and the volume is way too loud. I've seen other people have had this same problem, but I haven't found a solution. I've restarted my computer, I've downloaded an updated audio driver, I've held down the audio buttons on my keyboard, but nothing helps.

I have a Windows 10, Inspiron 15-7579, 64 bit.

I just searched the interned for hours only to discover that it's not a software issue, but that there is a volume button on the side of the computer next to the power that I never noticed and it was STUCK. That was definitely my problem. It's still kind of stuck for me, but at least the volume icon went away. Hope this helps.

    I have just come across your post as I have been having this exact problem with two different Dell laptops. I also just read one reply saying how it was due to his volume button on the machine itself becoming stuck.

    This got me thinking and I am using a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse and I thought: I wonder if the problem lies with the keyboard. So, I switched off the keyboard and instantly the OSD disappeared and then when I switched the keyboard back on again, I was one more able to use the media keys to control the volume.

    Whether or not this is the cause of problems other people are experiencing I can not say - but it is another option to explore.

    Dear Windows UI team:

    Please, seriously and sincerely, very much please make this a configurable setting so the user can choose to turn it on and off. I have the settings disabled in chrome and it's still popping up. I really don't want to install a 3rd-party app just to make a thing go away.

    Having unwanted pop-up elements on the screen creates a very frustrating user experience, and should always be configurable so the user can choose this feature. Leave it on as default or whatever (there it goes again, popping up for literally no reason), but at least allow us to turn this feature off.

    Exactly.  This sort of nonsense and annoyance is why my next computer will be a Mac. 

    I'm going back to Apple because I'm sick of all the problems.  Been on Windows for the last 14 years but it's just too many little problems.  I have an eight or nine year old Apple iPad Retina and have never had one issue with it.  My kids have dropped it and spilled drinks on it and it just keeps chugging along.  It now sits on a stand in our kitchen and I watch/listen to France 24 English while cooking.

    The volume bar used to tell me that the battery was low on my wireless keyboard.  But now it's just on and there's another window opening next to it showing more volume features and a picture of what the volume control wants to play.

    If I use the volume button on the wireless keyboard to turn the volume down the feature on the screen disappears.

    Geez~

    UPDATE 7/1/2020

    I could not get this problem permanently solved.  

    I gave up and tossed my wireless keyboard in the trash and bought a new Logitech K740 wired keyboard.  It's a much much better keyboard, nearly silent, and zero issues.

    I tossed the wireless mouse too and bought a Logitech M570 trackball with a Lap Pro pad to hold the trackball on its side.  Look it up on Amazon.  It's a pretty famous review by someone else explaining it all.

    Convinced next computer will be an Apple now.
