Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709 fails to install

i am just in awe on what i have read. None of which makes senses to me. (lol)

It isn't really that hard to do. I suggest (as I think Robert implied) first try should really be BootRec. It isn't as drastic. But that must be done in the Recovery Environment (the BCD won't delete while booted to Windows) where you refuse to go. However, you can get there an easier way. Shift+Restart will go to the one that is on the SSD. But that probably/possibly becomes impossible, if somehow the BCD is destroyed. That is why really you need still to be able to get to the Recovery Environment of external media.

If you upload your "C:\BU\BCD Backup", I'll be able to fiddle with it. Does it still say "the parameter is incorrect" when listed?

and i can see parameter is incorrect at the bottom. YES its still there.

I see {bootmgr} is no longer on top. Did you move it back down? But leave it like that for now, because {bootmgr} is probably the worst bad guy in there...

Does it say "device   unknown" for you too now in the {bootmgr} entry? On page 5 of this thread, your listing showed...

Give me awhile to play with that, but really I think "BootRec /RebuildBCD" is in the offing for you.
