Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709 fails to install

Hi, I am trying to install the Creators Update on my computer, but it fails and has to recover every time I try. What system information should I post to help troubleshoot why the update continues to fail?

    I read the URL. I do see your G502VT is mentioned. Well (I really don't know, but)...

    (a) I'm unsure disabling the SMART self-test constitutes disabling all of SMART.

    (b) I'm unsure that UEFI setting applies beyond the boot process.

    (c) I'm unsure everyone should do it instead of just those who couldn't upgrade.

    (d) I wish the article mentioned a specific error message the condition would produce.

    (e) I wish the article said whether to turn it back on after the upgrade is complete.

    I think your problem is a malformed BCD. And I'd rather have SMART ON than OFF. But - I guess - leave that setting OFF at least until the upgrade has worked.

    OK, now I'll go research the BCDBoot command a bit. Before bed, I'll post instructions.

    anyway ASUS did acknowledge at some point that disabling SMART might do the trick.  From another user

    (1) I read that ROG URL. I see no definitive statement that SMART need be turned OFF. It was something one of them did in a crisis. I would think - if SMART is inappropriate for SSD's - it would have been stated in the box to turn it OFF after installation. Also, the SSD itself has to cooperate for SMART to work. It would be built-in to be uncooperative, if appropriate, I think. Finally, you do definitely want SMART to be active for your D:drive.

    (2) OK. Probably I will instruct to...

    (a) Put the letter Z:\ on the system partition of your SSD, using DiskPart.

    (b) Rename the BCD that is on it, using a Command Prompt (Admin).

    (c) Issue the precise command (for GPT disks) in that URL:  BCDBoot C:\Windows /s Z: /f All

    (d) Finally, remove the letter, using DiskPart.

    A reboot hopefully is good news after that. But give me a chance to poke around a bit. If I see nothing soon that is objectionable to it, I'll post the instructions. I'm pretty sure it can all be done while booted to Windows. If not, we'll have to drop to the recovery environment.
