Hi, I am trying to install the Creators Update on my computer, but it fails and has to recover every time I try. What system information should I post to help troubleshoot why the update continues to fail?

Thanks!

-Andrew

The Carmack article is comprehensive, but boils down to...

    (1) Backup what you've now got, individual important files & even make a Windows system image.

    (2) Maybe download & keep critical device drivers like the display & network adapters at hand.

    (3) If you've got MS Office or 3rd-party apps that require a license, ensure you know how to reinstate it.

After the final button is clicked on the clean install, it will be done in 24 minutes. Cortana asks for the Wi-Fi (written on the router) & MSFT account passwords only. For me, all the Dell/Intel/Realtek drivers came in automatically on their own. (Fine, a few of them constantly asked for a "reboot to complete" the install. But they had nevertheless installed, & all were functioning well. Those three all ceased their squawking after they were updated.)

Good luck, & keep us informed.

    Hi,

The PC is a Custom Built Desktop with an ASUS Z-170-A ATX motherboard.  I am running windows 10 Home edition.  The listed OS build is 14393.1944.

I have not tried updating via the Media Creation Tool yet.

I have however tried installing the installer from the tool from the "Update Now" button from the same webpage. https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10  This also failed.

Update: I tried using the Media Creation Tool as suggested, however I encountered BSOD error WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.  This is a similar story to the standard Windows Update procedure, which fails as well.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
