In addition to reporting the fake pop-ups themselves I would advise that you take note if there is a significant loss of performance on computer after encountering, in particular, the fake Adobe Flash Player update. If things seem sluggish you may have been subject to one of the more prevalent malicious activities known as crypto-mining/coin mining.

    Hi Good Day, I feel like such a dummy I panicked when I received a Drop Down informing me of a Virus and to call Microsoft immediately to clear this Horrible Virus Infecting my computer. So like an Idiot I called and I let this individual get into my system and now he had control of my computer and if I did not pay the Ransom I was Screwed. I did a lot screaming and telling him what **** he was and his mother was a **** in a Mumbai

    Brothel, at this point he laughed and told me to have a good day at this point my screen, turned Blue and shut down briefly and then the screen turned on with a message to provide a password for my Microsoft Account.

    I never had a password, I would normally turn my computer on and I would go directly to my MSN account and I would have no issues, I would check outlook and go through my email.

    Now I can't do a thing because of the computer being Password Protected. I need help to resolve this issue.

    Hi all,

    I'm on the MSN Engineering team and would love help if anyone encounter this again. We've been tracking this since it started in mid February. We do quite a bit of work to scan the ads we get from our exchanges, but some behave differently for certain users than they do when we do our scanning. In the future, please continue to submit feedback so we can narrow the scans on our end and potentially reproduce and remove this once and for all. If your page was hijacked and you couldn't view the article, please mention the article headline you've visited as well.

    Yes-I was on edge Friday and now I can't access iTunes and another picture folder. What can I do to get this off my computer. I even received a text message that was a scam. Non of the virus protection programs on windows 10  will take this off.

    I Had been seeing the adds redirecting for months reading MSN News. the past two weeks it had been quiet and not had one attempt. 

    Defender has thus far thwarted  every attempt.

    Today I was just hit with another one. 

    Win 10 fully patched , using Microsoft Edge.
