In addition to reporting the fake pop-ups themselves I would advise that you take note if there is a significant loss of performance on computer after encountering, in particular, the fake Adobe Flash Player update. If things seem sluggish you may have been subject to one of the more prevalent malicious activities known as crypto-mining/coin mining.

    I'm done, IE and Edge are both compromised to pop ups.  I have pop up blocking on and everything where the browser is nearly unusable... IE is getting pop ups, edge is getting this Flasfisi everywhere now.  Not just MSN.com

    Its absurd that Microsoft is ignoring IE and Edge, they both spam vocal popups that lock the browser, it doesn't infect but I have to use task manager to stop the pop up login pop up box and its says call here etc etc.

    its been going on for way to long, I guess the IE and Edge team have been on vacation for 6 months...   this just sad and I guess they don't care about losing brower share. Just stop including a browser if you are not going to support it.

    The topic of this thread is malvertising issues on the MSN web portal. We can’t cover all of the various and sundry issues that people have with Windows 10 version updates, general issues with Edge and Internet Explorer, and malware and scam pages that appear on other websites. In order to stay on-topic, we need to stay focused on specific sightings of the fake Adobe Flash Player update screen, Tech Support Scam pages, rogue advertising pages, and any other indications of malvertising on the MSN web portal.

    That being said, the scariest thing that I’m seeing right now is that once the fake Adobe Flash Player update appears on the Yahoo news portal, the FlashPlayer.hta download tab wants to stick with me and follow my every move:

     

    So I’m really not in a state of denial about all the loose ends that need to be tied up here – and I do understand how frustrating these issues can be.

    I'm not sure if this is related to the important issues that GreginMich has raised but yesterday, after I'd signed out of Outlook and the Community, I was taken to the MSN pages. I normally interrupt the process to stop getting to those pages but I was interrupted this time. As a result I was taken to MSN - and I couldn't close/sign out. Nothing worked and I was stuck on those screens.

    I immediately ran Malwarebytes, then SuperAntiSpyware and neither reported any issues but being stuck on MSN was worrying.

    Greg, I certainly understand that you are up to your ass in alligators.  In it's update troubleshooter; MS claims that all updates go through these massive reviews, tests, performance checks...…………….before it is rolled out.  Well, since I have had nothing BUT problems and issues since the latest update; someone is dropping the ball.  And, from what I see; I am NOT alone.  Could you please refer me to an appropriate thread for update problems.  I seem to have the malvertising problem under control; at least for now.  Thank you very much.  RickCoe

    Different people are having different issues with the Version 1803 Update, depending on lots of different factors. I’m not seeing any issues at all myself, and consequently I haven’t done any research on the topic. So I can only suggest that you might want to review the recent threads in this Answers Forum category, and maybe ask some questions there:

    When I’m looking for answers, I usually start by searching the Answers Forum – but the local search engine has been “improved” to the point where it’s almost totally useless now, so it’s usually better to use a web search engine. For general Windows issues, the result pages will usually include lots of Answers Forum links, along with links from other popular forums, which can sometimes be quite useful. Unfortunately this method doesn’t work very well at all for malware-related issues, because the rogue antimalware concerns have somehow managed to fill up the top SERPs with hundreds of their timely and topical booby-trap links.
