In addition to reporting the fake pop-ups themselves I would advise that you take note if there is a significant loss of performance on computer after encountering, in particular, the fake Adobe Flash Player update. If things seem sluggish you may have been subject to one of the more prevalent malicious activities known as crypto-mining/coin mining.

    Until Microsoft EDGE is able to correct this situation, go to the Microsoft store and get uBlock origin which is free. A few sites will complain about you blocking their ads. When you see their complaint, you have a choice with uBlock to unblock their site.

    Thanks for quick response.  Will try uBlockorigin as suggested.  From the MSN front page this morning I was reading a post from "Washington Post" when warning popped up.  MB is picking up items but not notifying me???  RICKCOE

    I've been using Chrome as well as Edge, and, since my first post, I have downloaded Malwarebytes as well.  Today, I had just clicked on a TIME magazine article on TIME"s web site, and Malwarebytes Premium Trial version blocked an ad because it contained a PUP.   I viewed the log and saw the following:

    Domain: partners.cmptch.com

    IP Address: 74.120.16.240

    Port: 60305

    Type: Outbound Connection

    I'm not sure if this will help.

    I have followed the suggestion and installed uBlock, it is too early to tell if it is working and will block the Flash problem but thus far this morning it has not popped up. I will reply again after a week as the occurrence of the bad popup was sporadic.  The blocking extension is not slowing down my use of edge and is not taking   up a lot of resources.
