I’m seeing Trojan:JS/Flafisi.D detections and Tech Support Scams on the Edge browser Start page

I as well have a window tag in the bottom right corner saying:::

(Unknown packet received from service )

And I can't get rid of it

While using Edge and reading an MSN News (Edge Start Page) article titled “Mickelson’s wife says he offered to withdraw” a tech support scam popup appeared that was linked to the following url.

This occurred at appx 10:20 PM GMT June 17, 2018.  I was using only Windows Defender and I closed Edge without issue.  SE USA 5:20 PM CDST.

No threats found by WD…

I encountered the same fake virus warning; however, their website has different ID at the end. 

Update: A member of Microsoft's MSN Engineering Team (RodrigoLode(MSFT) has responded to acknowledge the malvertising issues associated with MSN portal. In addition to reporting the fake pop-ups themselves I would advise that you take note if there is a significant loss of performance on computer after encountering, in particular, the fake Adobe Flash Player update. If things seem sluggish you may have been subject to one of the more prevalent malicious activities known as crypto-mining/coin mining.
