Issues Updating from 1703 to 1709

Hello,

I've the same error on two older Systems which stuck on 1703 and can't get 1709.

In both cases I don't use 3rd party virus scanner, I only use Windows Defender.

Mainboard: Asus M3A78-EMH HDMI,

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) Dual Core Processor 64 X2 4450e,

RAM: 4x1GB Samsung M3 78T2953EZ3-CF7, DDR2-800 (400 MHz),

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 3200 (Onboard)

Mainboard: Lenovo ThinkCentre M55p

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 / Intel GMA 3000

RAM: 2 GB

    Hi David,

    if you Google for the mainboard Asus M3A78-EMH HDMI you will see in product listings that's from 2008.

    I upgraded my Windows 7 Pro license to Windows 10 Pro using 1511.

    Nevertheless Windows 10 Pro is running well on this HW with 1611, 1607 and 1703.

    I don't know what has been changed in 1709 so that I get problems now.

    I could do a new installation on a new disk.

    Any more Ideas?

    And for the 2nd machine from my friend he has more or less the same machine with the difference that it has a Nvidia Quadro (PCIe ?) instead of Onboard Intel and 3 GB instead of 2 GB RAM and no problems while upgrading to 1709.

    I did a new install from my usb disk I made. after it installed it upgraded to 1709

    David H,

                 Microsoft Help Desk have tried 5 times, the total number of retries is getting on for 20 using very method suggested, I have tried starting with a Safe Start and everything disconnected and all foreign AV removed, sfc run and DISM also and some GPU hardware disabled and leftover files removed from the failed update.

                 As a test I ran the 1703 version of Windows 10 Pro as a reinstall upgrade which went through without any problem other than Windows Upgrade no longer worked, so had to run the trouble-shooter to correct it.     

                 My installation fails at 45% in the First Boot phase Sysprep  error 0Cx1900101 - 0x30018, although the error is not always reported and a restart does not attempt another install but a windback to the old.   This windback is, more often that not, with errors and I spend a lot of time reinstalling failing drivers and other thing like fax services and whatever else I have not found yet!  I also need to rerun sfc /scannow for system errors.

                                    THIS IS BEYOND A JOKE!

    Hi Dennis,

    sorry this is currently no option. I customized so much and all e.g. Printer is running well.

    What I could think about - if this is possible - is using the USB Flash Drive created using Media Creation Tool to Upgrade the existing cutomized System - instead of upgrading using Windows Update.

    What do you think about this?
