Running Windows 10 Pro, v1790, build 16299.19
After a recent Windows update my computer now re-opens all programs I had open prior to restarting.
I've seen some registry hacks and workarounds on the internet but I just want the option to turn this off natively within Windows without workarounds.
How do I do this?

This is redic. You're forcing this on Corporate wide devices and have no way of allowing Administrators to turn this off in Group Policy? Rethink your answer before you respond since every single response I have read on both these pages have been deflecting from the resolution - grant the option to turn this off.
I completely agree with Nik_871. If you are going to put in a feature like this. Give us a way of turning it off. The work around that its easy just close everything and you will be fine is dumb. What if i restarted because something went corrupt. This is just going to get me stuck in a loop. Also if i'm shut down my computer i am done with it. When i start up i want to start fresh. Not where i was before.
The fix is simple. Give us an off switch for this stupid feature. Please.
are you the devil? opening a computer and having 20 apps boot up that you don't need is such a pain. Similarly, having to manually turn off all the apps after doing a workload is a huge pain.

I use windows because I never want to own an Apple product, yet the all-pervasive tablet/cellphone/app culture has now been adopted by MS, whose attitude seems to be 'thanks for your decades of support and money, but damn you all'
Maybe I can apply to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for a grant to start a software company that will actually respect it's customers.
